Minerals Species: Opal (var. Hydrophane Fire Opal).
Location of mineral deposit: near Mezezo, Shewa (also Shoa or Showa) Plateau, Amhara, Ethiopia. Click here to see other opals from Ethiopia.
Description: Polished fire opal showing broad areas of green, yellow and red internal fire (play of colors) with orange base color. The fire opal forms in patchwork patterns running through common opal. The rear of the specimen is common opal. No damage. Total weight 9.35 carats.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 23x19x9 mm.
