Minerals Species: Quartz var. Smoky Dauphine-law Twin.
Location of mineral deposit: St. Gotthard, Kanton Uri, Switzerland.
Description: Nearly-flawless crystal of smoky quartz with silky luster on the external crystal faces. The twin suture lines are visible on the prism faces confirm this is a Dauphine-law twined crystal. Internally the crystal is transparent with scattered flaws. Though the crystals are clean and in good condition, a few edges show minute nicks upon close inspection, but they are minor compared to the relative size of the specimen. Ex. John Albanese (1898-1969), ex. John Albanese, Jr..
Overall size of mineral specimen: 9.5x3x2.5 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 9.5 cm.
