Minerals Species: Olmiite on Calcite.
Location of mineral deposit: N'Chwaning II Mine, Kuruman District, Northern Cape Province, South Africa. (This is the Type Locality for the mineral *) Click here to see other minerals from Type localities.
Description: Elongated plate covered on one face with translucent pink-brown olmiite crystals up to 12 mm across over colorless transparent calcite crystals up to 3 mm across. The olmiite crystals fluoresce deep red under UV illumination. No damage. Ex. Robert C. Lambert #92.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 13x7x2.5 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 1-12 mm.
