Minerals Species: Zoisite var. Tanzanite.
Location of mineral deposit: Merelani Hills, western slope of Lelatama Mountains, Arusha Region, Tanzania. (Type Locality for Tanzanite) Click here to see other minerals from Type localities.
Description: Large single crystal of tanzanite, the transparent blue-violet variety of the mineral zoisite, with lustrous crystal faces and no matrix attached. The termination end is gemmy and shows color change when rotated. The lower end has graphite inclusions. No damage to the front of the specimen, but the rear shows minor damage.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 28x15x14 mm.
Size of individual crystals: 28 mm.
Price: $1975 net (plus shipping).
