Minerals Species: Corundum var. Ruby.
Location of mineral deposit: Ganesh, Hunza River, Northern Areas, Pakistan.
Description: Large translucent ruby crystal, the pink gem variety of the mineral species corundum, embedded in yellowish marble. The crystal has deep purple-pink color and lustrous termination faces. No damage is visible to the unaided eye, minute edge chipping is visible under 20x magnification.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 3.5x3x2.5 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 17 mm.
Price: $75 (plus shipping).
