Minerals Species: Beryl var. Aquamarine on Muscovite.
Location of mineral deposit: Shigar Valley, Skardu District, Northern Areas, Pakistan.
Description: Lustrous transparent aquamarine crystals, the blue gem variety of the mineral species beryl, up to 25 mm long on platy muscovite mica crystals to 12 mm. the aquamarine beryl crystals are hexagonal form, with basal pinacoid terminations, and are striated. No damage is visible to the unaided eye, minute edge chipping is visible under 20x magnification.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 4x4x3 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 5-25 mm.
