Minerals Species: Franklinite* in Calcite.
Location of mineral deposit: Franklin District, Sussex County, New Jersey. (This is the Type Locality for the mineral *) Click here to see other minerals from Type localities.
Description: Dark-metallic octahedral franklinite crystal 15 mm across in translucent white calcite that fluoresces orange under UV illumination. The franklinite crystal has smooth surfaces and rounded edges. One lower corner is chipped. Ex. Chas. W. Velte Jr. (1914-1987) collection #44.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 4x3x3 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 15 mm.
Price: $175 (plus shipping).
