Minerals Species: Quartz var. Herkimer Diamond.
Location of mineral deposit: Benchmark Quarry, St. Johnsville, Montgomery County, New York.
Description: Elongated Herkimer Diamond variety of quartz crystal 33 mm long with saddle-shaped colorless dolomite crystals to 5 mm on sulfide-rich matrix (pyrite-marcasite). The quartz crystal is internally fractured but the upper termination is water-clear. No damage.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 5.5x4.5x3 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 1-33 mm.
Price: $35 (plus shipping).
