Minerals Species: Calcite.
Location of mineral deposit: Aurora, Kane County, Illinois.
Description: Parallel cluster of transparent colorless calcite crystals with silky surface luster. The calcite crystals are rhombohedral form with shallow secondary edge faces throughout. This specimen probably came from the old quarry on the north side of town. Though the crystals are clean and in good condition, a few edges show minute nicks upon close inspection, but they are minor compared to the relative size of the specimen. Ex. Hugh Ford (1885-1966).
Overall size of mineral specimen: 6.5x4.5x4 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 10-38 mm.
