Minerals Species: Magnetite (rare cubic crystal form).
Location of mineral deposit: ZCA Mine No. 4, Fowler Ore Body, 2500' Level, Balmat, St. Lawrence County, New York.
Description: Rich specimen of many rare cubic crystals of lustrous black magnetite to 8 mm in yellow-white halite- and talc-filled pockets and veins. For more information see article: Cubic and Tetrahexahedral Magnetite in May-June 2008 Rocks and Minerals. The crystals grew in a constricted vein preventing complete crystal development. Most visible crystals are complete and undamaged.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 11x6x4 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 1-8 mm.
