Detailed information on mineral specimen No. 70982:

Minerals Species: Magnetite (rare cubic and tetrahexahedral crystal form) with Talc.
Location of mineral deposit: ZCA Mine No. 4, Fowler Ore Body, 2500' Level, Balmat, St. Lawrence County, New York.
Description: Double-sided cluster of many lustrous black magnetite crystals exhibiting rare cubic and tetrahexahedral crystal form (magnetite is commonly octahedral) intermixed with fine-grained yellowish talc. Many cubic magnetite crystals are exposed throughout. Though many crystals are complete and undamaged, there are missing or incomplete crystals scattered throughout. Collected 1991-1992. Overall size of mineral specimen: 6.5x3.5x2.5 cm.
Size of individual crystals: micro to 6 mm
