Mineral Species: Cerussite and Quartz in Galena solution
cavity. Location of origin: Wheatley Mine, Phoenixville District, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Description: Historic specimen ca. 1890 of lustrous colorless transparent bladed cerussite crystals to 10 mm on gray-metallic galena. The edge of the cavity is rimmed with translucent gray quartz crystals to 9 mm. The cerussite crystals fluoresce yellow under LW UV. Though the crystal faces are clean and in good condition, a few show damage upon close inspection, but they are minor compared to the relative size of the specimen. From my personal collection; ex. Peter B. Nalle (1923-2010) collection #763; originally acquired in 1998 from Lawrence H. Conklin (1933-2016). Overall size: 13x6x4 cm. Size of individual crystals: 1-10 mm Price: $1250 net (plus shipping). |
