Description of Mineral Specimen for sale No. 82511:

Mineral Species: Quartz var. Black Herkimer Diamonds with black hydrocarbon inclusions.
Location of origin: Hickory Hill Diamond Diggings, Fonda, Montgomery County, New York.
Description: Linear formation of parallel lustrous black Herkimer Diamonds, the variety of quartz from the Herkimer area, with black hydrocarbon inclusions (locally called Anthraxolite, a non-mineral name). Black Herkimer Diamonds are rare and sought by collectors. Complete and undamaged except the contact where it was formerly attached to surrounding matrix. Ex. Miller collection T730; ex. E. Greene private collection QRZ-349b; collected September 1994.
Overall size: 22x7x6 mm.
Size of individual crystals: 2-15 mm
Price: $26 (plus shipping).
