Description of Mineral Specimen for sale No. 82578:

Mineral Species: Zincite.
Location of origin: Sterling Mine, Ogdensburg, Sterling Hill, Sussex County, New Jersey. (Type Locality for Zincite) Click here to see other minerals from Type localities.
Description: Lustrous transparent-to-translucent red-orange zincite crystals in white calcite. The zincite crystals were completely enclosed in the calcite and were exposed when the specimen was split revealing zincite cleavage faces on the surface. Ex. Miller collection T1932; ex. Betts #58770; ex. Robert E. (Bob) Jenkins (?-2010).
Overall size: 23x17x12 mm.
