Description:Single crystal of corundum without matrix. The crystal tapers from 4 cm wide down to 2.5 cm at the smaller end. From old museum collection circa 1880 donated by D.S. Martin, founder of the NY Mineralogical Club in 1886. Ex. Westtown School (West Chester, Pa.) Collection no. 6344, donated by Prof. Daniel S. Martin from the Samuel Trimble (1798-1855) collection.
