Locality:Sar-e-Sang, Kokscha Valley, Badakshan, Afghanistan (Type Locality for Lazurite)
Description:Large crystals of lapis lazuli up to 35 mm in pyrite and calcite matrix. The bottom was sawn flat so the specimen sits upright without support. The lazulite crystals were carefully excavated and sit in high relief off the matrix. Ex. George Loud #4720
