Description: | Large single crystal of lustrous red-brown almandine garnet with no matrix attached. The almandine has dodecahedral faces with trapezohedral edge faces. Several corners intersected surrounding garnet crystals leaving crystallized contacts. Ex. John A. Rorer, Jr. collection; collected on a geology field trip University of Va. |
