Mineral:Quartz pseudomorphs after Calcite
Locality:Bendoukou, Sandare District, Kayes Region, Mali
Description:Large formation of translucent milky limonite-stained quartz pseudomorphs after rhombohedral calcite crystals up to 30 mm across. The calcite formed first, was overgrown with quartz, then the calcite dissolved away leaving their shape in the quartz.
