Description: | Lustrous deep-purple amethyst quartz crystals on a fragment of basalt. The crystals have deepest color at the terminations and have circular red hematite inclusions throughout. The basalt supports the locality as Michigan, but it resembles Thunder Bay. Ex. Chas. W. Velte Jr. (1914-1987) collection #853 |
