Locality:Sar-e-Sang, Kokscha Valley, Badakshan, Afghanistan
Description:Several lilac-colored crystals of sodalite, variety hackmanite, frozen in yellow-white marble matrix. The hackmanite fades to pale purple in white light, and turns deeper purple when exposed to UV light (this reaction is known as tenebrescence).
