Mineral:Quartz var. Amethyst (Cactus Quartz)
Locality:Boekenhouthoek area, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa
Description:Deep-purple amethyst crystals up to 2.5 cm long with overgrowth of smaller 2-3 mm amethyst crystals around the prism faces, but they do not coat the larger terminations of the underlying crystals. This specimen was recovered ca.1998 and has deeper color.
