Mineral:Diopside on Grossular Garnet
Locality:Goodall Farm Quarry, Sanford, York County, Maine
Description:Translucent green diopside crystals to 3.5 mm on orange-brown dodecahedral grossular garnet crystals to 10 mm. The grossular formed first, then was distorted resulting in stress fractures, lastly the diopside formed over the grossular and in fractures. From my personal collection, collected ca. 1990
