Description:Section through a large hexagonal ruby crystal, the red gem variety of the mineral corundum, with one face polished to highlight the internal color and crystallization patterns. When rotated under a light distinct crystal layers reflect chatoyancy. Ex. Peter B. Nalle (1923-2010) collection #555; originally acquired in 1987
