Description: | Portion of moderately-weathered lamproite dike with a fragment of blue sapphire, the blue gem variety of the mineral species corundum, on one edge of the dike. The Yogo Gulch sapphire deposits were discovered in 1894 and are still being worked currently. Ex. Peter B. Nalle (1923-2010) collection |
