Description: | Two segments of a translucent hexagonal bixbite crystal, the red-violet variety of beryl commonly sold as Red Beryl, embedded in friable white matrix. The red beryl crystallized first, then was deformed post-crystallization and trapped in the matrix. Ex. Peter B. Nalle (1923-2010) collection #509 |
