Description: | Classic specimen of Blue John, the banded variety of fluorite used for carving in England, with one face sawn flat and polished to highlight the yellow and purple banding. The fluorite exhibits translucent when illuminated from the rear. Ex. Peter B. Nalle (1923-2010) collection #131, gift from Miss Cadwalader in Feb. 1939 |
