Description: | Doubly-terminated transparent dark purple amethyst quartz crystal fully crystallized on all faces with no matrix attached. Hair-like metallic rutile crystals to 15 mm are visible inside the amethyst crystal. From old location ca. 1850. Ex. Tim Swan collection at River Valley Mineral Museum (Rumford, Maine) #582; ex. William S. Vaux (1811-1882) collection ca. 1893 |
