Description: | Lustrous black-metallic octahedral magnetite crystal exposed in a calcite vein. The magnetite crystallized simultaneously with the surrounding calcite resulting in complex patterns on the surfaces. The calcite was dissolved to reveal the magnetite. Ex. Thomas A. Penney (1934-2019) collection #205. |
