Mineral:Quartz var. Scepter Smoky Quartz with Hyalite Opal
Locality:Black Cap Mountain, east of North Conway, Carroll County, New Hampshire
Description:Transparent dark-smoky quartz crystals exhibiting scepter habit (elongated prismatic quartz crystals capped with larger quartz crystals resembling a scepter) with hyalite opal that fluoresces green under UV. The quartz has etched faces with satin luster. Ex. Thomas A. Penney (1934-2019) collection, collected in the 1960s-70s.
