Locality: | Sar-e-Sang, Kokscha Valley, Badakshan, Afghanistan (Type Locality for Lazurite) |
Description: | Large cluster of lapis lazuli crystals, the gem variety of the mineral species lazurite, to 35 mm in pyrite-marble matrix. The lazulite crystals were carefully excavated and sit in high relief. The bottom was sawn flat so the specimen sits upright. Ex. George Loud #4720, originally acquired in 2000 |
