Description: | Large nodule of banded agate sawn and polished on the face to highlight the internal growth patterns. This is an old agate dating to the early Brazilian agate mining by Germans that needed to replace exhausted agate beds at Idar Oberstein. From a private collection donated to Manhattanville College ca. 1910. |
