Description: | Transparent dark-red trapezohedral spessartine garnet crystal in whitish muscovite mica. The spessartine crystal is exposed front and rear. The crystal faces have microscopic parallel crystallization patterns (natural) that give them a silky luster. From the private thumbnail-sized mineral collection of Frank Melanson; collected in 1998. |
