Locality: | Tri-State Lead-Zinc Mining District, near Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri |
Description: | Large (and heavy!) flat cluster of gray-metallic galena crystals to 35 mm with overgrowth of yellow-metallic marcasite crystals to 10 mm with brown oxide coating. The galena crystals are cubic, with some exhibiting octahedral corner faces. The specimen was coated to prevent further oxidation. Collected ca. 1945. |
