Description: | Classic cluster of many lustrous black octahedral spinel crystals in parallel orientation on one face of limonite-stained diopside-phlogopite matrix. The spinel crystals weathered from the surrounding marble. Amity is known for spinel crystals to 30 cm. Ex. Dave Wellbrock collection M1201, collected by Doug Wahl in June 1994 |
