Locality: | Route 80 roadcut, near Leonia, 2.8 km west of the George Washington Bridge, Bergen County, New Jersey |
Description: | Plate of transparent golden-yellow twinned calcite crystals collected from a one-time find during road work on Route 80 to stabilize the rock face. The calcite crystals formed in a fracture in the Palisades Sill. The calcite fluoresces under SW UV. From my personal collection, collected ca. 1996 |
