Locality: | Meckley's Quarry, 1.2 km south of Mandata, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania |
Description: | Lustrous translucent blue celestine (celestite) crystals to 9 mm on lustrous transparent yellow-brown calcite crystals to 2.5 mm lining one face of tan-colored limestone. The celestine crystals are prismatic form with chisel-shaped terminations. The calcite crystals fluoresce yellow-orange under longwave UV illumination. Collected in 1992 |
