Locality: | Unaweep Canyon, 23.5 km south of Grand Junction, Mesa County, Colorado |
Description: | Unusually large plate of pale-purple amethystine quartz crystals to 9 mm completely covering one face of a plate of translucent green fluorite. A few of the larger quartz crystals have medium-purple core zones, but most crystals are pale. Collected ca. 1975. This quartz outcrop was completely excavated by open pit mining ca. 1983. |
