Description: | Lustrous translucent vivid-pink rhombohedral rhodochrosite crystals to 2.5 mm with translucent brown platy star-shaped leucophoenicite crystals to 1 mm, fibrous tan-colored gageite microcrystals, and a group on the right end of brucite crystals to 7 mm. The leucophoenicite was identified based on morphology by Bruce Cairncross, author of Minerals of South Africa (1995). Originally acquired ca. 1980 |
