Description: | Lustrous iolite crystals, the transparent blue gem variety of the mineral cordierite, to 20 mm frozen in gray quartz-feldspar. The prism faces of the iolite crystals show alteration to green-brown pinite. The blue color is most visible on the rear. Ex. S. Kelland collection; ex.
