Description: | Translucent yellow smithsonite crystals in rounded formations on a rectangular fragment of tan-colored matrix. The yellow color of the smithsonite is caused by cadmium impurities. Local miners called these Turkey Fat Ore because of the appearance. Ex. Miller collection T2668; originally acquired in 2010 from Chris Wright (1946-2014) |
